Guitar Polish

Post by mikek »

The booklet that came with my Ric 330 was fairly affirmative about only using the Ric polish cloth.

I don't have it (guitar was purchased used).

Is there any problem using Dunlop Formula 65 Guitar Polish on this instrument until I can secure a Ric Polishing Cloth?

Thanks

Mike,
I would just use a plain cotton/flanel cloth to rub out the smudges without using any chemicals. It depends if the guitar is dirty or you just want to put on a shine. "The Guitar Player Repair Guide" by Dan Erlewine devotes an entire chapter to this subject and is well worth checking out.

Most guitars are made using an automotive finishing product .

.hhhmmmmm car stuff????

I use a product called Finesse - it made by 3M

It is used to only polish cars of high quality .
A Chevy or Ford typically , does not get the final wetsand to the clear coat with a polish after that .. but lots of pricey cars DO .

This is one of the polishes that autobody shops use to give that HIGH sheen to these cars .

I never use guitar polish in my shop .....ever.

Cotton cloth of the 100% kind is always used .Plaid ... colored , or white , it does not matter.
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!

Cloth diapers (clean ones) are great for polishing.
