"On Stage"

Post by edcal »

On the Searchers website, there is a CD entitled "On Stage" Under New/More Recently Recorded CD's section. Any information about it and where can it be purchased?
Thanks,
Ed

Timothy: could you kindly tell what's on it? Is it a kind of "Live 4" or does it contain some earlier recordings?

No Tim they are a bit "miffed" about it, but it appears , so far, unable to stop it.

It is basically 'Live4' so that they could include "Seven Nights To Rock". The best CDs for early material are the 30th & 40th Anniversary Collection CDs plus the 'Iron Door' Demos CD.

So, Timothy, it is generally the material which was featured on previous three "Live's"? Can a track list be found somewhere?
('Iron Door' is a real kicker!)
BTW, is there any live material from the 70s released on a CD?
Cheers,
Sheena.

Sheena,

track listing is as follows:-

when you walk in the room
its too late
four strong winds
rock this land
in this life
take me for what im worth
every river
somebody told me you were crying
tambourine man
twist and shout
till i met you
love potion no 9
loves melody
young girl
the rose
needles and pins
sweets for my sweet
you'll never walk alone
rocking all over the world
seven nights to rock
hits melody

21 tracks in total.

I think it is mostly material previously released from the other 3 live cds plus the odd new track - seven nights to rock. Do not know for definate as i do not own the others!!

Until recently not easy to get hold of unless you attend a live show. I have seen them twice recently but did not have enough spare money on me to buy one.

Wendy Burton (Searchers web site) kindly got me a signed copy of this from one of the live shows earlier this year.

Sounds like a good idea to sell it on Amazon to me as it makes it available to people world wide.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Robert... hum... never heard some of them (BTW, "You'll never walk alone" - is it a song by Gerry & the Pacemakers or is it another one with the same name?)
I agree it's a good idea to sell it via the web (since to me, for instance, it is impossible, for quite obvious reasons, to get to their show). Must check it out.

yes Sheena you'll never walk alone is the same song.

I was fortunate to see them live on sunday in Leeds ( It was a memorable night) and from memory they played all the tracks on here apart from till I met you, which was a shame as its a great song.

So this CD is a great way to here how a modern searchers concert sounds.

As far as the Searchers go it is not a good idea to sell on the web mainly because, it is my understanding, they will receive no royalities from it.

You may have a point there Roy. But what if they were to sell it though there own web site, surely they would get all the money then?

...but people will have a chance to HEAR it, i dunno, to me it's more important than any kind of royalties... not very fair as far as musicians are concerned, though...

Yes selling on the website would be a good idea , but in reality they don't have anything to do with the website, apart from Frank Allen contributing articles now and then. Wendy Burton compiles items and site is maintained on the technical front by Gary Jackson, they would need to set up a secure site for payment etc and so far, for whatever reason no Searchers live cd's or for that matter any items are sold on the site, it is essentially an information only site.

Pity I missed you at Leeds, but decided to take a holiday prior to starting a new job.
