Did Rickenbacker ever stamp the end of the headstocks of their guitars with model numbers or dates?
Did Rose, Morris ever do this at all?
The reason I'm asking is I've just noticed stamped on the end of my 1997 the model # and what might be a shipping date 2 66. The s/n is EJ and this looks like it's been there a long time. I've gone over the headstock on my 1999 and no such thing is on it.
I doubt it was done by Rick as 1997 was the RM #.
Could RM have done this to a batch of Guitars being sent to Oz for ID purposes so as not to confuse the locals who might not have known the diff between 1997/8's etc?
Puzzling...
