Maybe it was just because he was in Jerusalem but drummer and singer Phil Collins says he's open to the idea of a Genesis (1967-98) reunion.
"If it doesn't happen, it won't be because we don't want to. It will just be because there are too many things in the way," he said. "I'm happy to sit behind the drum kit and let Peter (Gabriel) be the singer." Gabriel left in 1975 to go solo.

Now that's a re-union that I would like to see. They were a great band.

It would only be interesting if Gabriel did it also, but I don't think he is willing unless they get some new material.

"Let" Peter be the singer??? How big of Phil!!
I hope the reunion won't be spoiled by all of Phil's fans shouting Peter down and demanding to hear their idol...
(Please, it's a joke...this is no time to start taking me seriously...)

Phil's a great singer . . . he's just not Peter Gabriel. He should do what he does best, which is play the heck out of the drumkit and sing backup.
If this happened, I would be the happiest person in the universe. I grew up listening to Genesis (all the way from Foxtrot to I Can't Dance). It would be the greatest thing since sliced bread!

If this guy toured with them, I would kill someone to get tickets. Really, who do I have to knock off?

Last month I saw Steve Hackett and I spoke to him about this possible reunion. He is hopeful and said there is a meeting scheduled to discuss it. A general consensus was that while all the members are still around that it should happen. I told him that if Pink Floyd can do it then Genesis certainly could too!

I almost killed someone to see BB with Genesis...me. I tried to sneak into a show at some outdoor amphitheater in L.A. and fell down the mountain...

HAHAHAHAHAH!!! I might get some **** for this but I actually like Phil Collins' drumming more than Bruford's . . . I don't think one is better than the other (and frankly, Bruford is infinitely more versatile of a percussionist), but I prefer Collins; his drumming really made a lot of Genesis' stuff.

I saw BB twice with Genesis! They did two nights here when they did the TOTT tour, I went both nights.

You'll get no **** from me, Bobcat...I like Bruford's playing only slightly more than Phil's, mostly for the intellectual approach and adventurous experimenting, but Phil routinely plays stuff that's physically impossible for all but a handful of drummers. My favorite example is the roll across the entire kit in the middle of the quiet section in 'Get 'Em Out By Friday' (Foxtrot)...he goes from top volume right down to nothing while executing a seamless, flawless move from snare all the way to floor tom...like I said, impossible.

Peter Gabriel is up for it too. And there is a meeting planned to discuss a reunion!
This all started about a month or two ago, when Steve Hackett started mentioning that the Genesis management contacted him.

I would love to see a Genesis concert. I did get to see Phil Collins about 7 or 8 years ago or so. He was soooooo bad that my wife and I walked out after 45 minutes of torture. Really, really, reallllly bad. And I reallllly tried to stay.
