Toaster neck pickup vs standard neck pickup output volume

Post by turlu »

Could anyone tell me if there is a difference in output volume from the vintage neck pickup, also called toaster pickup, compared to the standard neck pickup ?

Basically, is the vintage neck pickup "hotter" than the standard one ?

Let me know your opinions.

Stéphane: sure there is a difference. The standard neck p.u. is hotter than the toaster p.u.. Also, it does not sound the same. Either has its advocates.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.
