Screw This! ;-)
Anybody know what screws I need for the bridge cover on a 620. I presume it's the same size as as the other guitars that use the same bridge.
When I checked the parts diagram on RIC's website, it looked as if the bridge, cover and screws are considered all one piece. I am sure RIC can sell you a screw or two if you want, but you have to have a minimum of $10.00 to place an order. I bought a couple of bridge adjustment screws for my 4001 a while back, and I bought a shirt to go with the screws to complete my $10.00 minimum order. If you are looking to go to a hardware store to buy the screws, just call the customer service line, which should be on RIC's website.

Yeah, the Allen heads are 4-40s. So if the bridge cover ones are the same size...you'll be OK. You'll need 4-40 round head Phillips or slotted head screws, depending upon the guitar's vintage. They should be 3/16" long; 1/8" is better still, especially if it's an older guitar and the bridge is adjusted down...
But if you're looking for chromed bridge screws, you'll be SOL. The best you can do is McMaster-Carr or possibly a large Home Depot or OSH, where with a bit of luck you'll find some stainless ones and polish 'em up a bit.

Better bet;[If you live in a town so blessed yet with one of these?]Find an old fashioned hdwe. store, and go where they have all those flat boxes of assortments of screws, washers, etc.[mfrs. like Hillman, Sharon, there are more; I can't picture them at the moment]I'd look in the boxes of Stainless steel screws in real small sizes, machine screws. This is where you find them.
I've also found both rubber grommets like Rick uses for PU and pickguard spacers, as well as the same screw they use to hold down the PUs on 330s and 360s, though, in stainless, not chrome.I've Never found suitable hdwe. for a Rick at Home Depot. A well stocked Ace hdwe. can be a starting place.

I don't know if this is a help but our plant engineer stops down at the local store for "onesy's
and twosey's" when we need them.Here's a link to the H.Q. http://www.fastenal.com/web/home.ex
I didn't notice any chrome,I didn't really look around.I guess for the price to get a small pack+shipping you might as well try Lowes or something like that.We used to have some really nice old fashioned hardware stores around here that had most anything you would ever need but they were run into the ground by the big chain stores.

OSH has the best retail fastener selection around. McMaster-Carr has 'em, but you have to buy a box of 100, which is about $5.00...

Even some Home Depots have a great selection of chrome, brass, and stainless in the yellow pull-out drawer section (not the poly bags). But they have three or four service level of stores, so you have to find the right location.
I haven't tried but I honestly believe I could find every screw used on our instruments at my local Home Depot, except that nickel and chrome might have to interchange.

John: How about setting up the first annual scavenger hunt at Home Depot? Who can find all the screws to put a Rickenbacker together in the shortest time.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

GREAT IDEA, Peter! Winner gets a LS or LS bass, his (her) choice!
But---the strange small Phillips tapping screws used to fasten the TRC to the headstock, I cannot locate ANYWHERE, in ANY finish...
So that could be the deal breaker.

I know this stuff is available from RIC. If you read the posts above, beginning with John Hall's, we were discussing whether these screws could be sourced at Home Depot and other such stores. The TRC screws are oddballs.
Thanks for the tip on the '70s TRC screws nonetheless.
