I cant believe that i have been on this earth for 41 years and had'nt heard any of this stuff until five minutes ago . How cool . Unbelievable Bass guitar stuff very comparable to CS .Wow !Thanks Robert for steering me towards it

Renaissance has been my favorite band, bar none, since the early '70s! I only got to see them once, in the round, in '79, but I did get to meet and spend quite a bit of time with both Annie and Jon.

One of my faves, too. Loved the lead bass on "Ocean Gypsy" on their live album. I've got it on vinyl, but can't find it on iTunes, dammit! Gorgeous work.

I'm showing my age here, but I bought 'Ashes Are Burning' when it first came out, and that album is one of the reasons I bought my first Rickenbacker back in 74'

Jon Camp said that listening to Chris Squire with Yes made him switch from guitar to bass.

IIRC Camp's famous white 4001 is now owned by a Forumite.

Same here. I still have my original vinyl copy! I got my Ric in '73 though...

Good to hear that David. I too have it on vinyl. Don't get me going on the vinyl vs CD thing. I think most people with any musical leanings will think that vinyl wins hands down... (-;

Robert, can you play like Jon?

I have all the original vinyls up through Azure D'Or, and I also have the vinyl of the pre Renaissance Renaissance with Keith and Jane Relf and Jim McCarty!!! Very rare AFAIK.

I also have all the CDs and several live and compilation CDs.

If it weren't for all the mods that have been done to Jon's bass, I too would have that in my collection, I would have outbid anybody to get it if it were original. When I saw Renaissance in '79, I could have played his 4001 but didn't have the nerve at the time. It was in the afternoon of the performance and I went to the theatre to scope it out. In the Green Room was the bass sitting there on a stand; I could have picked it up and played it if I wanted to but no one was around so I felt funny about doing so. I didn't meet Jon and Annie till after the show and the bass was not around then.
