Are those Gibson pickups? Also, I wonder how original that aftermarket case is?

Odd about the Vox(or Eco) case....

I have never seen a 1968 381 either. July no less. Between this and the '58 330, get the checkbook, Maw.

Cool. My '68 381 serial number is HD 885. And a whole lot different than this one. Both have checker bound headstocks though. Modded but still very cool.

Well, it is worth something to some people. I don't think these pickups look terrible on it... not like a zebra set of humbuckers or something.

Since I play a lot of hard rock and even metal, these pickups would actually be useful to me, although I would NEVER modify a Rickenbacker with them.
I have already put this one on watch, so maybe, just maybe I will pull the trigger on this one.

I agree that although it is horribly modified, it's still a pretty good looking & desireable gtr.

Brian, do you think this guitar would be able to play metal without being a feedback monster? That was the problem I had with a lot of hollowbodies in the past, non-Ric, of course...

Hey Steve-
I used to play a 381 with stock PUs through two Orange
OR120s with no problem.
If I stood within a foot the Pickups would squeal microphonicly but easily dealt with by the guitar's volume control. Walk away from the amp-line and back tack full blast.....
