Simon And Garfunkel Band ?

Does anyone know if the band that played backup for S & G on 'Sounds Of Silence' and 'I Am A Rock' use Rickenbackers? This question has been on my mind for years. I have never found the answer. These songs have that Rick-esque ring to them. I know that 'Sounds' started off unplugged (listen to "Wednesday Morning 3 A.M.") and the electric guitars and other instruments were overdubbed England later on-without Paul knowing it. Maybe someone out there has info on this.
