FENDER/GRETSCH CUSTOMER SERVICE
An eye-opener. This is what happens when a big corporation gets bigger and bigger. This also why, although I like (some) Fenders and (many) Gretsches, I do not feel the same sense of "coming home to a good friend" as when I pick up any one of my Rickebackers:

Here, I WILL paint with a broad brush, as it's appropriate in the case of "corporate culture". I do believe that this is what's at fault here.

FMIC = Fender Musical Instrument Company.
I've heard stories of people buying Fender amps and having problems (defective speaker, pots, etc) and, not wanting to void their warranty, they take the amp to an "Authorized Fender Service Center". There the amp will sit for weeks or months even 'cause the part is on back order. Then when the correct part finally does come, the warranty has expired.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing FMIC. I just think that as all overly large corporate conglomerates do, they care more about the bottom line than customer service or quality control.
However they do occaisionally make some very good instruments (in their custom shop).
Thats my opinion, though.

I'd rather die while I'm livin' that live while I'm dead!
