With the permission of David Wilson, Editor or Tonequest Magazine, I have on my website, under New FAQ - The State of Tubes, a very long and detailed interview and article on the state of tube manufacturing in 21st Century. It was published in the March 2004 issue of Tonequest, a boutique guitar and amplifier publication based in Atlanta, GA.
If you want to know about who makes what, manufacturing techniques and more, check this article and interview out for free at:

All the best of the season to you too Charlie. Thanks for this article, it is very informative and very readable for those of us who are new to tubes.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Greg
Due to many things happening, I am not able to focus on putting out a high quality research journal every three months. There is just too much work to do and distribution is a huge job.
I will probably go to two times a year and subscribers will get two years worth of issues.
Our next issue, #21 will come out the first part of 2006. We are going to a color cover and more pages. The editorial quality will still be high and the quality of graphics and paper will remain excellent.
If I do this journal, I am going to do it right. So many magazines, wind up becoming watered down and rely of weak articles and too much advertising.
