What year did they discontinue putting in the bridge capacit

What year did they discontinue putting in the bridge pickup capacitor at the rickenbacker factory? Please explain both if they did it different years for the 4001 vs. 4003.

I think it was in the 80's ...

I'd say late eighties. This applies to the 4003 only - the 4001 'ended life' much before RIC ceased fitting basses with the C3 cap.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

I believe it was 1986.
