The hidden track
The one after "Anyway", #14 on McCartney's Chaos And Creation. To my ears it doesn't sound like the Höfner. What is he playing there? Could it be the Ric?

Ilan, PM used the Hofner only for all the bass tracks on the record.

Ilan, just saw your post now - There are some tracks where the Hofner sounds different to what one would "expect" it to sound like (that was some sentence...) but, even on certain Beatles tracks the sound of the Rick and Hofner can confuse me. Oh,..2 AM is late?

Yes but they won't lengthen its scale, correct the neck-dive, or do something about those tuners
I don't think compressors and limiters were even around when I started playing bass 30 years ago, on a 500/1 (70's model, blade magnet pickups)... I'd love to give it a try.

Höfner neck dive? Not if it's a real Höfner. I've played Japanese copies that were terrible divers, but the original is light and well balanced (I have three). Yeah, they don't have the guts of a Rick, but with the right technique, strings, and amp setup, they can sound just fine.
