PM on PBS Feb 27th

Post by kenindfw »

I understand PM will be on PBS on 2/27/06. I don't know if this was posted before but I thought it would be of interest to the Beatles fans out there.

Here is a description of the show which has apparently already aired on the BBC in the UK.

...Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road

Paul McCartney returns to Studio 2 at Abbey Road, the room where all The Beatles records were made, for an intimate journey through his songwriting history, from his very first Beatles song to the work on his new album Chaos and Creation in the Backyard.

Aided and abetted by producer Nigel Godrich, and using a selection of vintage instruments from his own collection (including the bass played by Bill Black on Elvis Presley's original recording of Heartbreak Hotel and the Mellotron and mixing desk used by the Beatles), Paul re-visits his back catalogue in new and revealing ways in front of an audience of just 64 people, including wife Heather, Fran Healy from Travis and Guy Chambers.

Paul re-interprets old songs, reveals new ones, plays some great cover versions and enlists the audience's help in a demonstration of 'in the moment' songwriting and arranging.

He also shows how BBC Radio 2 inspired this particular burst of creativity by re-creating the ground breaking Find a Different Perspective television advert of Band on the Run. [S]

Maybe there will be a special segment that shows Sir Paul punching Nigel in the face in the Apple parking lot. A classic!!!

"Aided and abetted by producer Nigel Godrich..."

Well put...here in America, "aiding and abetting' is a criminal activity...

I'd love to see them deck each other...
I didn't get where I am today by being on time...

Yep I t was aired here in the UK, I watched in early December The best bit is when he does 'Band on the run' (the psychedelic version) and uses the old beatles Studer 4 track re recording it live. He also does a talk about the mellotron and really gets into it, also does the 'strawberry fields' intro on it. Very good program, but wasnt too keen on his new songs, Although was great to see all the old equipment brought out.
