Hey gang...I just moved to New Orleans and haven't been able to hook up with local folks into the types of things discussed on this board, and would like to. Anyone here live in the area? (This includes a good & reliable amp tech who is fluent in Vox AC30 language.) Thanks!

If you're looking for a reliable amp tech check out Ed Blum at Sonic Surgery (482-1103). I have a small amp collection and he's the only one I trust to work on them in the area. I'm from Nawlins originally and now live 50 miles north of the city...hope you enjoy your new habitat!

Yes...I've been lusting after one for a long time now and just about gave up hope of ever owning one. I couldn't believe it when I saw the guitar on eBay! I knew this might be my last chance of ever owning the Ric of my dreams. I couldn't afford to get in a bidding war so I waited until the last minute, gave it my best shot, and hoped for the best. I can't wait until she arrives!

My acquisition story is the just the opposite of yours. I happened to run across one at a dealer in 1990 and had no idea what it was. The sales guy had it awhile and was pushing it pretty hard. I kept telling him that what I really wanted was one of those cool ones with the slash in the top LOL The more I resisted, the lower the price went!

(I'm thinking) Nobody wants a *girls* guitar... who the hell is Susanna Hoffs anyway?? I don't know, but that sure is sweet... kinda looks like John Lennon's! Maybe Ill NEVER be able to get one with the slash anyway!! So I agonized for a few days and then finally went back to get it. I acted as though I was doing HIM a favor, and chiseled him out of another 50 bucks :p

Sometimes things just seem to work out for the best.

Your gonna love your 350SH... enjoy!

THEN........I noticed Kenny "moved to NAWLINS" and not a word was said!

I used to get those moments whenever I would go time traveling. It got so bad that I finally told The Doctor that I was tired of being one of his Companions, and the blue police box hasn't been back since. Things are lots calmer these days. Nobody calls me Adric anymore either, and that's good.

Except that I forgot to get him to take me back to 1957 through 1972 in one-year intervals, and let me buy up all the Ricks I could find in all the stores to bring back to the present time. What a collection I would have had today...

Now it's time for my medicine again, the nurse with the white cap is heading this way, good bye

Yep Elys, this one got me as well--I couldn't believe two RR's moved to NAWLINS at nearly the same time!

So how ya likin it down in the Big Easy? Back when I lived there, I used to be able to take a bath just by walking out my front door and standing in the breeze, the humidity was so high

Hasn't changed one bit Elys! First thing I said to my wife when we got out of the U-haul was "OMG, this feels just like Guam!" (where we met).

I'm liking it though--I spent several tours down on the Gulf Coast when I was in the AF, Panama City FL and Biloxi MS, so I kind of new what to expect. I'm an East Coast "4 Seasons" kind of guy weather-wise, but I can adapt to just about anything. Watching the tops of ships sail by on the other side of the levee isn't exactly reassuring, but the Navy base we're on survived Katrina fairly intact, so we feel good about that.

Other than that, only major change I had to make was storing my humidifiers and buying a portable de-humidifier for the music room!

If you (or any of the RR gang here) get down our way, give me a yell! Looking forward to Jazzfest....

And thus I am glad to be out of there.

I kind of enjoyed the brutal Chicago-esque cold of the winter (I moved there in January '03) but the minute Mardi Gras was over it was sweltering. This coming from a Florida boy who was familiar with humidity! Really unbearable. I haven't been back since I left in May '03...
