BlueBurst Woe

Post by webhead »

I was wondering if any of you guys have had a problem ordering a BlueBurst Ricky from Music 123... Last August I ordered a BlueBurst 360 from them. I then kept getting confirmation e-mails stating it is on order and the status. Then out of the clear blue sky I got this e-mail this past week that stated it was a closeout and Rickenbacker was not producing them any more.. I called and they stated that Rickenbacker cancelled the orders on the 360 as they stopped making BlueBursts.. I find this hard to believe if the order was placed in August 05.

I have a Blueburst 360 on order from another dealer and I haven't heard anything about orders being cancelled. Something smells like fish.

I lose track of who the on-line dealers are associated with. Is Music123 a version of Guitar Centre or is that Musicians Friend? Anyway, Guitar Centre lost its status as a Ric dealer, leading to the cancellation of its outstanding orders. This might be something similar, but I don't have any rock solid info for you. The only other explanation is that the order was never placed.

MF is affiliated with GC, and RIC still deals with them; apparently they use a different business model.

I think the most likely scenario is that M123 placed orders for X number of BBRs way back at NAMM last year or maybe a bit later, then sold them out. I'd definitely call RIC on Tuesday and inform them.

Music 123 is the old Zaft's music from Philadelphia, (on 5th Street). They are now in Cherry Hill NJ. A long time Ric dealer.

"I think Musician's Friend is associated with Guitar Center..."

Is there an echo on this thread?

A long time Ric dealer.

Well, the account is currently on hold and may closed. All orders have been cancelled.

I also have a 4003 and a 4003FL BlueBurst on order with them from 2005. Are those pretty much gone too?

Don, if they are gone, Pick of the Ric or the Rickenbacker Page have a couple that you can reserve.

My question is why did Music123 orders get compromised?
