1985 4003 Project Bass Complete

Post by alanz »

I may be beating a dead horse here but in case you guys don't hang out in the Reflections of a Curmudgeon area I had a 4003 project that is now complete.

A few months ago I snagged a 1985 red with black trim 4003 from a local San Diego ebay auction. Price: $164.50.

I turned it into something, uh, different. Blasphemous, even. In my defense though not only do I think it looks bitchin' I have to say it sounds huge and is extremely loud.

Here's a link for some decent sized and not so heavily compressed photos.

My thanks to Dane Wilder who helped me out with the pickguard and Paul Wilczynski who did the refin and refret.

I saw it in the other thread but somehow missed the white/black binding......pretty cool!

It looks great BTW.

Yeah, that is a very cool feature that I describe as a natural maple "halo" about 2 mm wide around the perimeter of the body. It does look great...
