Lyrical?

Post by sowhat »

Very easy: try to identify the artist & the song by the short bit of lyric given:
1) Oh yeah, a-ha-ha, oh yeah, a-ha-ha, oh yeah, a-ha-ha, oh yeah, a-ha-ha, oh yeah, a-ha-ha...
2) It started long ago in the Garden of Eden...
3) ...of people with each other, to prove they love each other a long ago.
Na, na, na, na, na na.
4) With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
5) Never thought I'd find a girl like you
Now I have, I know I'll never be blue
6) Talking is cheap, people follow like sheep, Even though there is nowhere to go.
Cheers,
SC.

2. "Game of Love" Wayne Fontana
3. Pass
4. "Paint It Black" Rolling Stones
5. "It's Gonna Be Alright", Gerry and Pacemakers
6. "Silence Is Golden", Vogues, 4 Seasons, etc.

4 out of 6, Paul - #1 is wrong indeed since i've of course chosen the quotes from 50s-60s songs. #3 might not be the biggest hit of that 60s act, still the act is indeed famous and the song was "a matter of action" not so long ago - a 90s band was suspected plagiarizing it, or "using" the tune for their song that hit the charts in late 2000 or early 2001...

Paul's clearly having a laugh again

Answers are
Farmer John - Searchers
Game of Love - Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders
Picture Book - Kinks
Paint It Black - Rolling Stones
It's Gonna Be Alright - Gerry & The Pacemakers
Silence Is Golden - Tremeloes, 4 Seasons not sure The Vogues did it

Picture Book by the way Sheena, assuming I am correct was not a single in either UK or US it was a track on The Village Green etc album

"Of course", Sheena?

Sorry, but that should have been clearer, as the time frame of this stuff has drifted from time to time.

I think my answer is also correct.

Snif.

Hmmm, Paul, i'm just tryin' to obey the rules & not go too far, and i sort of presume that the songs i chose for my "puzzles" are either from the 50s or from the 60s... i believe your answer is correct (never heard this song), well, okay, good boy, you count 5/6 Image 4,5/6 to be precise, since, as Roy has mentioned, "Game of love" was recorded by Wayne&Mindbenders and only later Wayne recorded his own version.
Great job, Roy! I do know the track is from "The Village green preservation society", i just wasn't sure if it ever was a single or not. Speakin' of the story i've mentioned, i'll try to post the two riffs (it'll take some time) - i wonder if it was a coincidence or a sort of a "rip-off"...

Puff Diddy song lyrics fade out with these lines. Not that I have heard the track or want to for that matter

But if Paul got all those off top of his head we got 4 each Sheena to totally honest.

P. Diddy's "Come With Me" (recorded and performed with 60s legend Jimmy Page and based upon a Led Zeppelin song) begins with a snare/bass beat. The first lyrics are virtually exactly what Sheena described...

It's the only P. Diddy song I can stand, and is one nice piece of corssover rap.

Okay, here's the two tracks:
a sample (bad quality unfortunately) from "Picture book":

a "suspected rip-off" (perhaps out of place at this section, but it's a short one):

Sounds a bit similar, huh?

Paul, I noticed you kind of fumbled the keyboard keys on your answer above, did you mean crossover **** by any chance?
