"Imagine" at Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony

Post by dean712 »

I thought Peter Gabriel's performance of "Imagine" was beautiful. I was touched, in a way that is unfortunately too rare these days. I hope the lyrics reached some new people. It's such a great song, and I think Peter did a great job.

I agree wholeheartedly, Dean...a particularly high point in a ceremony full of them. I suppose I could go off on a tirade comparing an incredible moment like that with what's been going on at the Super Bowl halftime for years...but the Olympics represent far more for all of humanity than American football possibly could. The organizers in Turin are to be congratulated in every way for an artistic display comparable with the world-class athletic achievements that are to come in the next two weeks.

Peter Gabriel is a class act. I missed the performance unfortunately. Lennon left the world with a song that will touch people for generations to come.

The organizers in Turin are to be congratulated on their choice of artist and choice of song to open the games with.
