First gig with my first 4003s tonight

Post by delberthot »

I had my first outing with my new 4003s tonight. I hadn't done any kind of setting up as they both sounded fine at home. wrong.

The strings are like elastic bands. I haven't played using strings with such a low tension erm, ever. This caused a lot of fret buzz which wasn't nice.

The BB was better as it had been set up a Peter Cook's before they sent it to me.

One thing I did notice was that the A and D strings seemed louder than the other 2.

I was thinking of getting DR coated strings as I used the Red ones on my Thunderbird and the blue ones on my Stingray and they were very good.

This is where I would appreciate some advice. I have a MID and a BB. What colour strings do you think would look the best on each - Black, Blue, Red and Green. I think the reds might look a bit evil on the MID and possibly the green ones on the BB.

I wouldn't buy these if they weren't any good and its very rare to get the choice of colour. I remember years ago Rotosound did black strings called Spacers. The black used to come off and eventually go grey which is probably why they stopped making them.
