Looks like a 360 six string in Mapleglo. But you knew that already?

Great footage and a great sound he's getting out of that thing. Man I wish production 360s were 21 fret.

I guess people weren't all that bothered about lyrics in the mid 60s eh...

Kent, those tuners are Van Ghents. I've had a couple of RICs that came with them.

Paul, wow, what a treat; that is the first thing I saw on my computer this morning. I saw the original airing of that show and it is a part of my memory forever regarding the "good time" 60s. When we (our group "The Galaxies") heard "Lies" for the first time we thought it was the Beatles. Listen to it again and picture Lennon singing lead with Paul and George doing backup, on Ready-Steady-Go (a regular TV appearance). To-the-T I might add. Their followup song was similar called; "One Track Mind," maybe you can find some footage of that one as well.

I always associated the lead player playing the Ric 360 because of this footage but some have said that the actual recording was a studio musician playing a Tele through a Fender amp. Maybe not. I'd rather think it was the Ric through a Vox.

John is right about the Van Ghents. Rickenbackers and Gretsch were a big part of the sound during the 60s. Of course Fenders were too.

Thanks for the treat!

Great clip and great song, thanks.

Anyone else notice that the pre-chorus sounds almost exactly like a part of "That Thing You Do" from the Tom Hanks movie? (Comes in the pre-chorus in that song too.)

Wonder if the songwriter was inspired by "Lies."

I'm glad everyone enjoyed that as much as I did.
Bill, I also pictured The Beatles doing the song.

Ah, John, great minds must think alike.

I wonder (no pun intended) if it was intentional.
Hhhmmm, some research is in order.
