Post by admin »

Please identify the year that this 4001 bass was crafted.

I have my doubts about its authenticity too. I can't see the inlays well enough -- are they edge to edge? Thumbrest looks odd and the control knobs don't look original. And what about that jackplate and the under the pickguard shot? Very curious. Where did you get these pics, Peter?

David Axt sent me this photo ;

I must say it is a fake -100%

The maple fretboard is totally wrong ,

The pickups are not correct .It looks like a mid 1970's Fuji-Gen gaki made instrument.
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!

These are my feelings as well. I didn't want to be the first out of the starting gate. There are many things about this instument particularly the fretboard and inlays that point to a copy.

Squirebass: The pictures are from a someone who wanted to know if the instrument was a Rickenbacker. My comments were that I believed it was not. This provides an opportunity to look at a copy that is somewhat more sophisticated than many of them.
