Bass pickup original?

Post by hank_dussen »

A long time ago someone gave me this pickup, that looks like a Rickenbacker neck pickup. Now I want to put in an old precision-type of bass. Anyone out there can tell me whether this is an original Rickenbacker pickup?

The aluminum plate on the back looks the part but the chrome bit appears to be wrong. The wires, magnets, and poles don't look like any I have seen. It looks like a copy to me. Sergio (the pickup master) will probably weigh in at some point.

Here I am. Yes, the aluminum securing plate looks about the only genuine Rickenbacker part on the above pickup. Everything else on it is not legit.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.
