Hipshot screw length

Post by kcole4001 »

I know this has been covered in the past, but I couldn't find it through a topic search.

I've just installed a Hipshot bridge on my '77 4001, & the D & G strings won't retract back far enough for proper intonation.
I recall that others had the same problem & had replacement screws sent to them that rectify this, but I don't want to wait, so I'll just cut down the screws myself.

Does anyone know how much shorter the screws need to be?

Thanks, I went ahead & shortened mine by 1/4" & that seemed to work well.
