Ordered my Comstock today!

I dropped by Willcutt Guitars this afternoon to pick up my Tacoma C1C Chief, which had a cracked top repaired.
I asked the shop owner to phone Ric regarding the waiting period on 700C Comstock (and the $$$).
12 to 14 months was the response, since they build to order. Not bad considering.
So I took the plunge.
I dropped a bit of money to secure the order.
I now await the arrival of a 700C Comstock (maple back and sides) with the top of the line Baggs electronics. Color choice: Fireglo (Montezuma Brown was not an option, sadly).
I played one last year when I was in Minnesota for a recording session (Dave's Guitars in LaCrosse, Wis. was the shop) and the Ric blew away every Gibson, Martin, and Guild in the place.
Conversely the Shasta didn't sound nearly as nice, though it may have had dead strings...
I'm excited.

I can just imagine how great the Rickenbacker acoustics would look with a Montezuma Brown finish. I'm waiting for my left-handed Fireglo 730L Laramie (without the electronics) that I ordered it right at a year ago.

Oh how I long for a ric acoustic.
Specifically a Jazz-bo. That is one of teh smartest designs I have seen. Wish I could see the bracing pattern...
congrats on your Commie

Wish to have one someday.

I believe that John Hall said that the JazzBo would be the priority after the 360/12C63.

When the time comes, I think I will be a Shasta 12 MG man. I can never get enough rosewood.

JWilli, does your comment mean that I might have to wait until the JazzBo's are done?

I typically migrate to rosewood guitars myself, Corey. Rosewood back and sides with spruce tops typify the acoustic sound for me, however the maple Ric Comstock had a voice and tone which was beautiful, expressive, and the guitar was a pleasure to interact with. The Shasta was lovely but sounded wispy in comparison. Likewise with the Ric rosewood dreadnaught model (I played one at the Ohio guitar show at Pick of the Rick's booth). They sound airy and produce a wonderful strummed sound but lack the presence I want in an acoustic. I haven't played an acoustic Ric 12 string, though I would love to.
As for the Jazzbo -who wouldn't want one of those beauties?!
You can see Marty Willson-Piper play one in the video clip for the Church's 'Under the Milky Way'. 'course that one's a rare 30's (40's?) model. My wife has actually tried to talk me into getting one! 'You know it will sound good...'

Interesting that, and rare indeed!
I love the charactered maple sides next to the checkered binding.
cheers, Noel

I received a message from Rickenbacker through my dealer that the left-handed 730L which I ordered a year ago is not anywhere near being made. It has a lesser priority than some other projects.
That's all right, I can wait!

I ordered a 12-string Comstock approximately in the summer of 2001. Now approaching 21 months since order.

I thought I was crabby after waiting three and a half months for the custom shop Gibson that just arrived today - I can't imagine waiting 21 months for a guitar.

Three and a half months for a custom shop guitar is amazing. I know poeple who have waited over three years for custom stuff. The acoustic department at Ric is suffering big time, they just don't have enough qualified people in house to make it happen. I know JH is doing everything he can to find the "right" people for the job and bring the line back up to speed.
