Springfield IL roundup

Post by rickfan60 »

There was some serious tornado activity in Springfield IL today. There are at least 3 forumites in the area. I don't know if any were affected by but 10 people are dead and many are without homes.

I know Lindsay Hahn and family are safe - some fallen trees and no power since Sunday night.

Lindsay's favourite bar was demolished.

Best wishes to all over there.

Wow, thanks! We don't live that close to the area affected, so our experience was limited to loss of power (which is now back on) and some tree limbs, but a lot of people lost homes and businesses; thank God no one was seriously injured (I believe the deaths took place in Missouri). Yep, the loss of the Barrelhead was a blow, but there were people inside when the roof was pulled off and none went with it, so all in all you've got to be thankful. I must confess I've been thinking about Dean, he lives much closer to the tornado's path; I assume that he and his family are okay, but who knows about his house. Jason lives outside of town, I don't know if he was affected.

Thanks again for the kind thoughts.

Checking in here. My family and I are all safe. I do live a little south of town so was not seriously affected. Spent the whole evening on the phone with relatives making sure everyone was alright. Haven't heard from Dean though as of yet.

I know that as of this evening (Tuesday) there was still areas of Springfield that did not have power. A lot of the rural areas around me just had power restored as of this morning. Let's hope it is just a lack of power that is preventing Dean from checking in.

The Chicago Tribune reported 10 deaths in Springfield. For once, I am glad that they are wrong.

I just checked his bands webpage. It was last updated on March 16th, after the tornado. There is no mention on the page as if anyone was/is still affected. They did have a St. Patrick's day show on the 18th and everyone appears to be fine in the photos, but I haven't heard from him myself.
