Hello from a new rick owner
(Head bowed)Hello, my name is Shawn, and I'm an addict. I've known of this for sometime and only recently came to terms with my addiction, I purchased my first Rick. This was so powerful that I had to give up another addiction, smoking, to finance my new Rick. I have no regrets, in fact I am glad that I've come to this. WHAT AM I SAYING?!! I am ecstatic over this! Why did I wait so long? This is the absolute best danged bass I have ever played, hands down. For twenty years I beat on a Westone Dynasty and although it had an ultra-slim neck, it just couldn't produce the sound I was wanting. Then it dawned on me that the sound I was wanting came from Rickenbackers. I was obsessed, my wife thought me mad, I told my story further, wondered and was sad. Oops, broke into verse there, sorry. So I decided to search and research my affliction. My first inclination, as you may tell, was a jetglow .There were other very beautiful versions as well, not amongst them was a fireglo. Fireglo in the pictures didn't look right to me. But lo and behold a fireglo came within reaching distance and I finally saw what made them so attractive to others. Needless to say that is what i took home as my first Rick,a '96 Fireglo that the previous owner outfitted with a toaster and horseshoe pups.I am in love. The sound is mind-blowing and I am forever hooked. Thank you for listening.

Shawn, welcome to your new addiction. (Well, 2...Rickenbackers, and this Forum!) I have owned several, and am the happy owner of a new Blueburst after having been without one for 14 months. I was starting to get the shakes, but after playing the new one for a while, felt much better. Now if you can just stop at one, that will be the tough part!

Wow! Again I thank you guys, John,Ted,Jeffrey and Julian for the warm welcome. I am totally enthralled by the sound of this Rick, even better now that I performed a "rough" set-up on her. The previous owner had the action set way too high and the neck had an upward bow. However thanks to the most abundant information I've obtained here, I was able to perform these tasks with confidence and successfully!
Jeffrey, that is a very interesting bass you have, I am intrigued as to the sound it has.
Again guys, thank you
Shawn

Welcome Shawn. I am a newbie here too, but not so new to forums on the net. This is one of the best I have found. Nice guys and a wealth of great experience and information. I just got my first Ric this week, after 15 years toying around with a cheapie Japanese bass. I always loved the Rics.
Sounds like we have alot in common. Have fun here!
