Blackstar!!!

This is the one I just got from Ebay. #107 of 200. Needs a little TLC but it's in very good condition.

A nice looking Blackstar. I really like the microdot fretmarkers on this bass.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Hey, Gregg, you got yourself a gem there! What sort of Tender Loving Care does it need?

Just a little polishing really. I'm really a 70's 4001 type and I was worried about how this one would sound compared to my other 75 and 77 4001's. It sounds pretty good. Not quite as punchy as my 75, but very well balanced sound. I'm going to try and keep this one if I can. (Famous last words)

If I remember correctly, the Blackstar was introduced in '87 and discontinued in '90, which prompts me to think that it sounds somewhat different than a 4001 from the good old 60's/70's. Am I right?
"I'm really a 70's 4001 type...". Well, that makes two of us!

Yes it does sound different from the 70's 4001 models I have. I do like the way it sounds also.

In case anyone missed it, this is the same one mentioned at the end of another thread, "Rickenbacker Bass Models, A history/list". Gregg got this for $500 BIN. Super deal.
