Rick 4003 tuners peghole size

Post by geddeeee »

Anyone know the size of the pegholes of a Rick 4003? I'm looking to replace them with Grover Titan bass machines. They have 11/16" pegs. I'm hoping they will slot straight in with no drilling. Fingers crossed!

Just curious Mark - hope you don't mind me asking - but why do you want to change them?

I've bent one of the tuning peg shafts. Also I've used Grover Titans in the past and now is as good a time as any to 'upgrade'. I prefer the bigger tuning leaf.

No-one knows then? Ok, I'll have to sort it myself!

If you need a replacement tuner I have a few Ric tuners around that I can sell cheap ... I am not familiar with the Grover titans but I assume you will need to enlarge the hole ...

Appreciate that Jeff. The question still remains about the size of the hole?
I don't really like the 'clover leaf' tuners. It looks kinda cheap, like Fenders!

Schaller tuners fit in the same hole ... Gotoh almost fit ...

Thanks Jeff! Looks like I'll have to enlarge the peg hole slightly then. Don't really want to, but.....

The Grovers I had on my '73 4001 were 1/2" and I reamed the holes out to 9/16" for Ultralites. I also had to do the same on my '03 4004Cii to fit Ultralites to it, which originally had Schaller M4 tuners. I guess the RIC tuners are 9/16".
