The Montezuma Brown challenge

Post by jeff_ulmer »

Is anyone else debating which instrument would best suit them in this year's color? Putting aside the fact that I can't afford another instrument for a moment, I'm wondering what I would most like in Montezuma Brown.

I don't really need another bass, but a Laredo or 4003 could be nice. I do need a 12, so a 360 or 660 are possibilities.

I like the look of the MB 360 that Music Connection had. The glow on a one piece top seems to be the most asthetically pleasing. However, I have seen one old fretless 4003 that was almost a honeyburst, and looked really nice - not too dark around the edges. I think it was the Canadian Autumnglo (gloss walnut), but can't be sure. MB on a bass could be a possibility as well.

I'd be interested in others' comments.

On any Ric bass, with a gold guard and nameplate, yeah.

I tried to order my Comstock in Montezuma Brown.
Not an option. Alas.
Would have been lovely.
Stunning, I dare say.

In the meantime, I'll cast my vote for the now-discontinued 360V64. Along with the double white binding, Montezuma Brown would arrest the very senses on that model.

Nick, I would think it would look really good on the c64, as well as a 4003 or 4004L. And I like the idea of gold guards -- I bet it looks really sharp on a 660...
Am I the only one who thinks it would look good on a 330 or 381v69? I like this finish very much, so I know I'm gonna have to be very disciplined about impulse purchases!

I have this view that the fireglo finish, and previous autumnglo look better on the larger body models, 330/360/381's more wood for the finish to look impressive on. I expect the Montezuma brown to look the same, great on large body instruments.
As solid colour look cool on the 620/660/350/450 sized body. I will have a 360-6 in Montezuma brown on the 19th May and will post images.

I don't know who you spoke to, but the Comstock and Laramie (i.e. Maple side and back instruments) are available in Montezuma Brown. There's a number of outstanding orders for these already.

The Rosewood sided instruments just don't look good with transparent colors which is why we don't offer them.

JH, Glad to hear that Montezuma Brown finish is available for the Comstocks and Laramies. I would like to have a left-handed 730L MB.

Mike, have you got your guitar yet? I'm interested in seeing more shots of this finish.
