Signs of things to come???
Are they getting that difficult to get now, in general, that dealers are taking this attitude?

It's back to supply and demand again.

Perhaps I misunderstand the "price matching" idea.
I've just had more than enough recently of someone telling me that "the price of something is going up, so get used to it". It's poor business to blatantly slap your customers in the face with arbitrary price increases coupled with insensitive attitude. (I'm not talking about RIC!)

Plus five minus five!
I understand what you guys are saying. It is down right ludicrous for someone to charge $1500 for regular catalog products, even though there is a wait. Chances are, check out the shipped pages on the RIC website, you're going to find what you're looking for. It's the guys that are charging $1800 for a Blueburst 330/12 that is down right greedy...
"Take the RIC... Leave the cannoli."
For the best prices there is no question, if you order it and wait, it is MUCH less expensive.
Since 1999, I have always had a Ric (or 2) on order, knowing that it was a wait. All part of the fun.
I remember when my 5002 MB came in after a year or so. The dealer was visible upset when he remembered that he sold it to me for $1,000.00. That was a good day..

I've got a reissue 1996 AFG on order currently. I know it will be worth the wait and it may appreciate in value.
Back in 1989, I ordered a reissue 1997VB FG (paying $740 in advance). When it arrived only a few weeks later, the dealer offered to return double my money, as he had a customer who wanted one immediately. I figured something fishy was going on (i.e. model had been discontinued), so I refused to give up the guitar. Looking back, I should have taken the money. I'm now the proud owner of (3) reissue 1997's...
This just goes to show that it's hard to lose when you order a Rickenbacker!
