Is that 1/2" spacing? This must be a '74 or a '75. I can't tell if the TRC is plexi or not.

That price is great, if I had the cash to I would have grabbed it as soon as I saw it.

That's not 1/2" spacing. The controls look screwed up, too. I am pretty sure that is a plexi TRC, though.

I don't think it's a plexi. The reflection isn't right.

Whoa, I missed 'em both Steve!

That first one definitley has 1/2" spacing. I can clearly see the difference now.

Raised letter TRC.

So there's no way to make them white again, other than a refin job?

It's not a plexi TRC at all.

And...
This is the 4001 model in the ultra rare..

I am SICK of hearing "Oooh, it's RARE!" - It's a white 70s 4001, it's NOT rare at all! Grrrrrr!

The second one doesn't say "Model 4001" on the TRC & the writing is way too thick. The binding looks like it might go all the way 'round behind the tailpiece, also.
They all look to have the black plastic TRC's.
White = banana yellow unless you do a refin with a non-yellowing clearcoat.

One day I'll refin mine in non-yellowing snow white. It's a partial refin anyway.

For anyone looking for a white 4001, here's what looks like a nice '74 (half-inch), and the asking price isn't outrageous (not cheap either):

The one from Olivia's Vintage has a repaired neck crack but they are still trying to get $1800 for it. Nice.

Ok, my take-
the first auction listed does NOT have the black plexi TRC.

The First auction Steve Cooper posted, the one with the Grovers, DOES have the black plext TRC (notice the very small font Made in USA near the nut)

The second auction steve listed does not have the black plexi TRC.

All of the basses are very nice, I like the aged yellow a lot (as does Ilan)

Wow, that one on GBase is really screamin' white. They say it's creamy, but it must be flash wash-out. They do look nice bright white though! Mine was a banana.

Someone here (can't recall who) has a white/BT that is really really white, without even a hint of yellowing. When he bought it he posted pics at the Dudepit, drop dead gorgeous bass.
