Hello all,

Thanks again for the welcome to those I have yet to thank.

Someone asked for a picture or two. Taken this morning at 6.30am so not best quality I'm afraid. Didn't capture the texture of the grain which does look better in real life!

Now, given I'm a novice at this Rickenbacker lark, if anyone spots a glaring omission / alteration / wrong hardware etc then please let me know so I can try rectifying. As far as I can see it all appears authentic. (I won't be upset)

I got horsehshoes. I know that much. The Chrome is slightly worn on the upper one where it's clear it's been used as a hand rest for picking.

Sure is! Looks very pretty.

You didn't pay £1699 for it, did you - specifically from Music Ground?

OK Mark. Put me out of my misery. Paranoia is kicking in... It was that same bass.

Purchase anxiety is growing. Is it a ringer, hot, overpriced, one you owned... HELP!!!

Jo,

Don't worry yourself with it! It's a beauty!
Just something about a left-handed Rick!

Looks to me to be a genuine 4001V63 LH Mapleglo. Nice!

Jo welcome to the forum. Nice V63. It is hard to tell from the photo, is the fret board stripped of its conversion varnish?

Ken and Kevin. Not sure what you mean - did the original fretboad have a lacquered or varnished finish then?

I believe given the wear to the chrome on the horseshoe that the bass has been played lots (lovingly as there aren't many other signs of wear).

Given that the frets look almost new (not in keeping with wear noted above) that I guess that it's a possibility on the varnish?

the stripped fretboard should give it a warmer sound ...

You guys are starting to get to me. I really like the look of that bass!
I'm not a MG fan, a Beatle fanatic (though who can deny their obvious talent), or a vintage afficionado, but I'm thinking I need one of those.
I remember the ads for the V series back in the '80's & how nice they looked.
That's a fine bass, so don't worry about the price. Probably pretty good for a lefty, & it'll go up in value anyway. Enjoy!

£1699!!! That's a great price. I wouldn't sell my v63 for that!

Well, there you have it. Peter certainly has a good understanding of UK Rick values and is a lefty.
