Mr. Hall.. Your advise please !

Post by stratmanx »

I have a 1999 4003 that the clear top coat is starting to "lift" and chip on the body near the binding on the lower left bottom, about 3" from the tailpiece.

I've noticed that this is progressing in the last month.

Any ideas as to why this is happining, and most important, how I can have this repaired before it gets worse ?

I am also the 2nd owner of this bass, so don't know if the warranty is still valid for myself.

Thanks guys !

Usually chipping is releated to something applying pressure to the instrument, i.e. the case. It can also be a spreading delamination of the finish from the binding caused by a previous bump to the edge. Once it pops off in one place, it can continue spreading.

The warranty is to the original purchaser.
