Distort used in Baby Blue by Badfinger ?

trying to emulate the distort sound in this song.
From what i could gather, Badfinger used HiWatt amps, and Gibson SG. I know i won't get it exact
using a Fender Twin and a Rick 330 ...i'm using a Boss "Blues Driver" which is not bad...but wondering
if you pros here know of a closer effect pedal to use ?

Gordon Armstrong: are you sure about the guitar? My best guess was an Epi Casino. My only evidence is my ears, though

As for amps, I would've guessed an AC-30 or similar. Again, my ears are quite fallible!

....they're obviously faking the instruments
here, but shows the guitars they used at the
time, Pete Hams guitar (far right) was given
to him by George Harrison ...i dont know the amps
used here, but read they normally used HiWatts...
...anyway..just lookin for the closest pedal to
simulate the sound of the riffs ..thanks

I have always loved this song. The amps are two silver faced Super Reverbs as far as I can tell and the bass amp is an Acoustic 360. The bass is a Fender Jazz. They don't sound like a HiWatt kind of band. AC-30's or Fenders would have been my guess also. Super Reverbs can sound sweet like that though but wouldn't distort like that. It could have even been the distortion built in to a Vox Super Beatle for the lead.

So, night before last I messed around with this, after tuning to the recording, with my 660/6 (toasters) and a Damage Control Womanizer. By putting the compressor in it a bit lower than I usually have it, and messing with the tone and distortion settings I got close. I don't know how they recorded that, but if I were recording it now I would do the little fill single note things multitracked with a little less distortion than the crunch sound, since that seems to be the biggest challenge with the part.
