My dream Ric bass

My dream Ric bass doesn't exist ... but if it did it would have .... 5 strings ... modern bridge width 2 1/2" ... slim neck nut width 1 5/8" ... single coil pickups reverse wired and reverse polarity like a jazz bass ... contoured body ... no mute ... no ric-o-sound ... Schaller m4 tuners ... 21 freets ....
Sort of a cross between a 4004 and a 4003s5 ....
I have no use for mutes, ric-o-sound or 4 string basses ...

Yeah, I'd like to see them make the 4005 again too, and hollow (or semi-hollow body) basses are back in style again. I'd be first in line to buy one.

Bob: I agree a nice looking bass. there is something very nice about the hollow-body. I am sure this would be a very expensive operation and some retooling may be necessary for RIC. Would you still be in the running with a price tag in the vicinity of perhaps, 5k? Maybe John Hall could give us a ball-park figure for this resurrection.

Sure, I'd still be first in line, I know they would be expensive. I had something about that in my post but deleted it. There are other ones being offered out there now (Lakland comes to mind and that one is up in the 5K vicinity, but I'd buy the Ric first), and they are all expensive, but there is nothing as resonant as a nice hollow body bass, (except an upright). The 4005 would be the jewel in Rics crown. And yes they are striking.

Re resurecting the 4005 - wouldn't you be worried about the R tailpiece exploding?

YEAH, THEN I COULD SAY THAT THE FORCE OF IT KNOCKED ME OVER AND I HURT MY BACK! I COULD ALSO SAY IT HAD DONE IRREPARABLE HARM TO MY HEARING AND I COULDN'T PLAY ANYMORE, THE SOUND OF IT HAD REVERBERATED THROUGH MY 10 CAB SVT STACK WHILE I HAD ALL TEN HEADS ON 11! HAHAHAH

How about a 4001C64 in the new Montezuma Brown color. I'm not expecting Rick to make this bass anytime soon, but it dosen't hurt to dream!

Bob: I get the basic idea. Here from Mike Parks page, a beautiful Model 4005 from 1967.
4005 Fireglo Wow...all original and sounds great with the new Pyramid flatwound strings, Serial # GB 939 (Feb 1967) tuners original silver case in very good condition also..$4295 SOLD
