Had some relatively good results running the DI off of my Ampeg V4BH and a ribbon mic on the Bag End S-12B cabinet direct to a Tascam Hard Disc recorder.
Ran the 4001C64S into my Diamond Custom Voiced Bass Compressor straight into the Ampeg.
Recorded live in a Coffee House setting, congas instead of the usual drum kit and only one electric guitar.
One WMA and three Real Player clips can be heard here:

Thanks Alan,
Those are Pyramid flats, the pick was a D'Andrea Pro Plec, 1.5 mm Rounded Triangle.
IIRC the pickup selection was both on with the following control settings:
Toaster Volume backed off 1/4 or more"
Toaster Tone rolled off to 45%.
Horseshoe Volume backed off 1/8"
Horseshoe Tone backed off 25%.
Plucked between the toaster and the neck.
Good ears for those two guesses too.
