Can we even be sure it's a legit Rickenbacker, what with the soft focus picture, non standard TRC and it may be my screen here but the fireglo on the headstock look just wrong.

I thought the same thing. Now consider that an FL should have a dot neck.(and no frets!)

Could be that the seller is clueless and wouldn't know a rickenfaker if he had one in his hands. I'd ask for a picture with the "head peice" removed.
