Non-cutaway thinline... sexy! Can't wait to receive it. I'm out of GAS money now!

Thanks... I hope there's no catch here, the seller is a "Power Seller" with 100% positive feedback, the price is really good ($899), I've seen ES-125T's go for $1,100+ on eBay, maybe it's because that one is a 1961 and others I've seen on eBay were '58-'59.

I really love the thinline/non-cutaway combination, it makes this model very special IMHO. It can be the big brother to my '57 LP Jr.

So Chris, you say that's the original case... now I'm even happier!

A friend of mine has one, we THINK it's a '49. Plays great & has a fantastic lead tone.

Nice find. I bet it sounds great with that P90.

Chris, this model was introduced in '56 (source).

Could you describe its tone? A fully hollow thinline (no center block), does it sound close to a Gretsch?

The '49 would be a ES-125, not a "T" (thin-line) model.

Yeah, I think his is a regular ES125. We tried to date it, but you know how crazy old Gibby serial numbers are. I may be totally wrong about the date. Nice guitar regardless!

Thanks! Yep, the full-body ES-125 was available from 1941. I happen to like the so-called "student models", those no-frills, single-pickup guitars, like the Les Paul Jr, the Ric 4000 (I know it wasn't a student model...), the old Danelectro's and the Fender Esquire.

I just came across this thread by chance. I have a '61 125 TDC (cutaway, two P-90s) in very nice shape with no mods.

It came to me missing the pickguard, tailpiece, bridge and needing a neck reset, however.

I had all of the above, plus the frets dressed, done by an excellent luthier in MI, who was recommended to me by a friend in that area, and whose work is not cheap.

He did a great job. But I'm looking to sell it if anyone's interested. It looks, plays and sounds great. Loud P-90s. Original tuners, new HSC. Some finish checking but not bad at all.
