Vintage style tuners on a new 340

Post by loverickbass »

Anyone ever put the vintage tuners on your newer RIC? I'd love to see a pic if anyone has. I'm thinking of doing this mod to mine but I don't know if it will look quite right. I'm thinking the newer fat headstock won't go with the tiny tuners.

You will need conversion bushings too, as the holes for the Schallers are wider than those for vintage Kluson-style tuners.

Stew-Mac sells 'em, but they're a hair too small to press-fit into the headstock. When I replaced the faux Schallers on my Squier '51, I had to add a drop or two of Elmer's to keep the bushings in place, but they do look swell on that guitar!

Thanks for that info Glenn. Do you have a picture of yours?
