not really a horseshoe ... there are no shoes ... it kinda looks like a Rickenbacker pickup from the early 70s ... it is more of a humbucking high gain ... it might sound good wired in series ... or with a series, parallel, single coil 3 way switch installed ... it would be easy to make a similar pickup with a couple jazz pickups ...

The HB1's have stacked coils so it's not one of those. It seems a lot of people call 4000 series bridge pickups horsehoes. I'm sure they just don't know the difference.

I have it on good authority that HB1's and HB2's are NOT stacked coils.

the hb1 and hb2 both have dual rails with a coil around each rail ... side by side coils ...

Although the may very well be RIC experimental/prototype pickups this guy is selling (this one and the others he has listed). There is a good reason they never made it to market. Most likely they didn't have the sound quality or performance to make the grade. With all the science that goes into a pickup a certain amount of experimenting is part of the process. I would have thought that most items like this would have been destroyed or put into the archives. I can't believe that these left the factory under legitimate circumstances.
