Austin, TX?

Post by phlemmy »

I just got back from there last night from a job interview. I didn't really get to see any of the downtown at all as they flew me in and flew me out.

If they offer me the right money, I may just pick up and move.

Anyone here from that area?

I have heard nice things about Austin ...

I may be moving to Philadelphia ... or I should say the north west burbs ... I had a really good interview there a few days ago ...

Austin is a terrific city. I moved here to attend UT in 1983 and couldn't leave. It gets really HOT here for 8 months of the year and we don't get much very much cold weather. Lots of live music, too.

HOT! And HUMID! At least it was when I visited there the summer of '88.

They are very strange there; they call their rivers lakes! Image

"Keep Austin Weird" seems to be their moniker, which suits me fine.

No state income taxes here. I doubt that will ever happen.

Yeah, TX, FL, NV and a few others don't have State income taxes. Here in VA we get taxed for just about everything.

Austin is a great town. I went out there for SXSW a couple of times. My old singer moved out there a few years ago & he loves it. I always have a blast when I visit him too.

Hot? Today's high temp is supposed to be 72! Lived here since '90.
Oh, "Keep Austin Weird"? Hasn't been weird in years.
And "Live Music Capital of the World"? Not if the cops have any say in it.
