Paul Mccartney´s second 4001 bass

Post by blazer »

Okay I´ve seen pictures of Macca in the Wings era rehearsing with in the back ground his Beatles Fender Jazz bass (Which he gotten from Fender as a part of an endorsement deal) His Stripped 4001S and a Second Lefty Maple glo Ricky.

You can just make out that this one has body bindings, so that would make it a 4001 stereo bass.

Does anybody have more info on this bass or maybe even a picture of Paul Playing it?

It's a fretless. Go to the our Beatles Forum look for "Paul had two Rick basses?" follow the date row to the right to 08/04/06 you'll find it.

I have a few MAC posters STILL floating around the house somewhere. I had a copy of this one on my hard drive. That LOUSY old digital camera put that greet streak on almost every picture I took!

I know this isn't what your looking for, but I'll take a peak in the am and see what's left in the attic.

This one just never made it to Ebay.

Yep, mid-70s 4001 MG Fretless. Heard on a few cuts on Back To The Egg.

John Hall mentioned that Paul has both "C" Series basses. I think John gave him the C64S and a Japanese promoter gave him the C64. I believe Paul has the very first 4004C. From what I remember it was made special for Paul as a gift and then it went into production. So the first model was a lefty, but the first production model is a righty.

Any idea what month/year this was?

It's too bad McCartney doesn't play the 4004ci ... it is a light bass with a nice fat growlly sound ... it would work fine for what he plays ...

The 4004 was introduced 1993/94 ...
