Should I, or shouldn't I???

Post by heinpete »

Recently someone offered me a 1974 FG4001. The neck (nice birdseyes on it) has some headstock repair, although it was not completely broken off. The bridge-PU surrounding is like a self made pickguardian style. Other than that it looks all origina, lno big checking on the finish, good frets. It got red dots at the neck binding.. The guy is asking about 1300 US$ (might not have the case)! I'm tempted!
Some recommendations/considerations from forumite brother/sisters are appreciated.

Hey Pete,

Did you see this one? Same year, sounds like it is in much better shape WITH an original case...

Just a FYI!

Thanx Tony! That looks much better, but only no FG though and I'm back in Germany again. Waiting where the price will be at the end of auction?

You are welcome Peter!

I don't know where it may end up, but that is one of the two "missing links" I'd love to add to my small collection.

I'd really like to nail a 1974 4001 and/or a 4001 Autumn Glo.

All I need now is a winning Lottery ticket!
