4005 question

Post by cheyenne »

I've seen 4,6 and 8 string 4005's, but was just wondering if any fretlesses were made?

It was an option for that time,,(per the mid 70's catolog),could be,,, however I never saw one myself. Black trim and checkered binding also could exist.

Dave, I think the 4005's were discontinued before BT was around.

However - A white 4005 could be floating around out there, which would have black binding. Interesting!

John not true,,,It is clearly an option in the Mid 70's Catalog. The 4005, I think was gone in 82 or 83.

As of current, to my knowledge, there has not been any factory fretless 4005 surface.
Also, I believe that black trim was never made for a 4005 from factory. I would love to see one!
Checkered binding does exist on all standard/non WB 4005 models from the early 60's to the mid to late 70's.
I believe the last year for 4005 was 1984.

Now there's an idea for Chris Pappas to do on his 4005WB, turn it into a Shadow. He could carefully remove that fingerboard with those ugly, nasty FWCP inlays and send it to me to use for something and have Dale put on a fingerboard with teeny white dots and paint it all Jetglo with checker binding front and back.
