Christmas Gig Material

Post by admin »

With Christmas Gigs on the horizon, I am wondering if anyone has a collection of pdf, MS Word or Word Perfect files of festive tunes with lyrics and chords to share.

Same here! My band is gonna be looking for some upbeat ones to do. Maybe stuff along the lines of Springsteen's "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town".

I do indeed....mainly contemporary Christian Christmas songs by various artists, and lots and lots of Christmas carols.... I also use the Reader's Digest Christmas songbook, that I think was published in the early '80's; it's got a lot of Christmas standards in it. I can usually find chords and tabs for songs I want to do pretty easily by Googling song titles, and if I can't find it online, I can usually listen to the song a few times and figure out the basic chords.

For some very cool arrangements, the Christmas cd by Brian Setzer has some neat stuff on it also.

Speaking of cool arrangements, has anyone heard the "Merry Axemas" CD's? They're some truly fantastic Christmas instrumentals by some really big-name lead guitarists, such as Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, and Richie Sambora, to name a few.... My husband especially loves to crank up the volume on Ted Nugent's arrangement of "Deck the Halls...." It rocks the whole neighborhood, LOL!

Personally, I like Brian Setzer's version of "Jingle Bells".... it's a lot of fun! I didn't know he had his own Christmas CD as well; I'll have to look for that one.
