Is Burgundyglo RARE on a Rickenbacker 320 ??

Post by anon »

Ive posted this question on my other post but no one has addressed this....
I know Ive seen several Rick bass guitars in the color and a couple of the big brother models 330-360, but this is the only 320 Ive seen...
How would I find out if there are others or if this is the only one around??? I had a Azureglo 320 at one time...

Anon: Thanks for your question. Sorry to be so long responding to your post. Sometimes when the poster's name is Anon I don't store the name in my memory and associate it with a particular topic that needs to be answered and I forget to return to it. I will do my best to answer your question.

There is no a convenient place to go to get detailed accurate information and this is one of the reasons I am committed to registering instruments on the Rickenbacker Registration Page. To date, about one percent of instruments registered on the Rickenbacker Registration Page are of Burgundyglo finish. These are all 300 series instruments from the period 1970 to 1983. Of these instruments two Model 320s are in Burgundyglo. The best estimate at present, and I emphasize estimate, places 320 Burgundyglo models being produced at a rate of one instrument per thousand Rickenbackers made in the 1970s and 1980s. The most common 320 finish from the database during this same period is Jetglo at a rate of 6 instruments per thousand. By the way, Fireglo and Mapleglo finishes occur at essentially the same rate as Burgundyglo. This is a rough guess and is by no means definitive as the sample size of 320 instruments is currently quite small.

I hope that this post addresses your question in some meaningful way. Thank you for your interest and for your patience and persistence.

I know of another one, but i dont know if I really need two, would it be a good idea to buy it???
I thought about selling the one Ive got now....it has lots of checking....
but it really doesnt bother me too much???
what do you think???
would it be worth investing in another one???
I would think that the burgandyglo is rare but not that in demand, since most people want a Black one???
