JINGLE JANGLE GETS HIM A STRAT...

Post by jingle_jangle »

Yup, got me a Strat last week. It's a Dick Dale clone, and it comes to me courtesy of bandmate, Forumite, and Strat wack George Boccanfuso...

Image

I'm going to take it the rest of the way to Fender CS DD Strat (well, minus the headstock at this point...). Here it is on the left, with George's REAL CS DD on the right...I'll make a new pickguard, put all the holes and plugs in their proper places, and put it back together with "King of the Surf Guitar" playin' in the background.

But--WAIT!!! It gets better!! I've supersized!!!

Below are a couple of pics of my new (old) blondie Dual Showman rig, with reissue Fender reverb on top, again courtesy of George. I can hardly wait for practice this week!!!

Oh BTW, it's George's birthday, so join me in wishin' him a goodie! Reverb on stun...

Very cool, Paul. Talk about a Fenderama!! You've got some great gear there. And a very happy birthday, George.... surf on, dude! Image

Whatever you do, don't take the Strat near a toilet.... they tend to want to dive in!! Image

Before you attack your Strat, though, remember there's a little Gretsch over there that is desperate to emigrate and enjoy the Australian summer. Image

Aitch, right after the New Year, that li'l Gretsch will be winging its way to you...

The Strat tweak is slated for Spring sometime.

Very cool, Paul. I've got a Strat coming my way around the 25th.

Hey, what's that in place of the tone knobs and next to the volume knob on the DD?

Nice looking gear Paul !!!!

Can I come and play for a while !!!!

BTW have you heard of Kinman pickups, they are noiseless single coils, that in the opinion of some , out Fender Fender. Certainly worth a look at but unfortunately quite expensive.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

Kinmans seem to be the way to go for noiseless. Have you given any thought to a set of Fralins, Paul?

John...the pup switch on the DD Strat is a 3way not 5...the toggle switch let's you combine the neck and middle pups. Lots of great pups out there have some Lollar P-90's on a different surf guitar but for this one the CS 54's are the way to go. Now do we want to string it like Dick's..018, .038, .048, .039, .049, .060...or maybe we stick with 11's!

T'anks for the B'day wishes guys! Gush..this is such a cool bunch on this forum..real homey! Anyway, with the Showman Paul can keep up now..he used a Bandmaster on 10 a couple of gigs ago and just about blew it up! John..a lot of folks LOVE Fralins..I'm not one of them..to me, very harsh sounding...for Strats the CS 50's and 60's are great and really anything by Jason Lollar rocks.

And what a cool-looking Strat it is! Congrats! Image

And happy birthday, George! Image

I've always liked Strats--the look, the weight...the damned buzzing and humming...but I especially love the feel of them and the sound they make when you play a slow lead, unplugged in a quiet room. The whole design resonates so nicely.

Ah, well, wrong forum.

Paul, you might look into a re-finish, something a little flashier maybe? (insert hilarious emoticon here)
