Just going over my Rickenbacker "activities" for the calendar year, and it was a good one.

I had pneumonia for a week in February, and ended up looking at the Forum and eBay a bit too much. Bought three Rick basses that week: a Jetglo 4003 BIN for cheap, a Fireglo 2060, and bought a Fireglo V63 from a Forumite. Sold the Jetglo to Phillip Haannart in the Netherlands after Ted S. put it back together properly. In August, attended the RIC 75th party and was able to meet many Forumites. Also got to meet Chris Squire, gazed at Susannah Hoff's gams, and Billy Hensche played my beautifully restored '72 "mink" bass, thanks to Paul W. Retired from my career the end of August, wife, Dorothy, retired in June. Got on the list for a DCM 75th anniversary bass, and bought a Desert Gold 4003 the day after Christmas (delivery tomorrow, 2 Jan). Twas a very good year! Hope 2007 will be even better!

Meeting Chris Squire would be the highlight for me. I can't believe I missed this opportunity. I guess I will have to wait for the 100th anniversary now Image

Sold my BBR and bought a '98 4003S5. Ultimately, a very happy man!

Yep, it was a good year. The year i've got my first Rick (not a bass) and my first bass (not a Rick). Great you've had such a good year, Paul, & made good use of that thing called pneumonia. Yep, 2007 must be even better!

2006 was, for me, the year that "an interest" turned into "an obsession".

I bought and sold a whole bunch of Ricks this year. In fact, I barely bought any other brand of guitars - maybe one or two non Ricks.

And of course, I got to travel to sunny California and hang with the rest of the Ricken-nuts for an unforgettable weekend.

Looking forward to AT LEAST one confluence in 2007, in sunny Noo Joizee. if there's another in Cali, I may not be able to resist!

As for new Ricks, i've got a mandolin on order and am already homing in on a new bass!

Whew, glad 06 is over.

Rough year, hard times, but now on to bigger and better things.

Thanks to this forum, I've made a few (sight unseen) friends. Thank you all for your help and generosity with all things RIC related, you know who you are.

A few of the members here know what I'm talking about, you all helped me through a VERY TOUGH TIME and THANK YOU for letting me vent a little and for everyone's patience when I got a little OBSESSED.

Happy New Year to you all, I sincerely wish only the BEST and HAPPIEST to you all.

Steve, you sold your BBR? I didn't know, I remember that photo of it when you first got it, it looked totally stunning.

Tony, I'm with you over being glad '06 is over.

I was lucky to buy two great Rick basses this year and also placed an order for a 75th anniversary 4003. The 75th anniversary of Rickenbacker was one of the best experiences in my life. It was so well done by RIC and it was so great to meet many of you there and of course meeting Chris Squire was just so cool!

Some of you know that '06 was a very rough year for my family and I. I almost didn't make it to the RIC 75th. I appreciated all the kind thoughts and prayers from those who knew about the unfortunate events in my family.

I hope 2007 is a great year for all of us.

06 for me was a really decent year. I doubled my Rick count (to two), found this place of knowledge and very nice people, went to the 75th to meet so many of them, met Chris Squire also, and for once didn't loose any family members.

I look forward to all 2007 has to offer.

Best of luck to you Jeff, we will miss you here in ghost town,....... er I mean Motown.

Just read Michigan was one of four states to lose population last year. It appears southbound I-75 is going to be busy for some time as our industrial centers dissipate.

Did I read you are heading to the west coast?
I'm just happy to be here.

2006 was a good year for my family and I.

Married off my oldest son, youngest son graduated from college and has a great job, bought and sold several Ricks and am just giddy with the idea of being "empty nesters".... YEEhaaaaa!! Image
(actually, we already miss them...)

Needless to say, we'll be doing a bit of traveling...
