WHAAATTTT?
You're selling your bass again, Brent?...Just kidding.
I hope you're enjoying your blue 4003. Where did you get this cream (originally white, i suppose) baby? Are you selling her for a friend?
Wow, I thought the 4003 with 2 piece guards were discontinued in '84. The "YB" is a Feb. '85 bass... Are the truss rods adjusted at the fingerboard end like 4003 basses made '80-'84?

Smith's book says they were introduced in 79 (4003's) (all though I've never heard of one), but does not say when they were converted to headstock adjustment.
I'd love that bass BTW, but no dough.
It also says that 4001's were discontinued in early 86, so there is a possibility that 4001's and 4003's were made concurrently for 7 years. And I think if there is a two piece pick guard the truss rod adjustments are definitely at the fingerboard end, that was the reason for the two piece pickguard. The book is copywritten in 87, was probably finished in 86, so there is a possibilty that they were still two piece until that time. I personally thought they switched over somewhere in 85. Maybe some stragglers were made. Straggler= later than usual, in case you don't understand that outdated idiom.
